Hello from 2Green...Week 8

Literacy:
  •  This week our comprehension strategy is predicting. Children could practise this strategy at home before they have read their home readers!
  • We have started learning about procedural texts.
  • We continue working hard on our handwriting and pencil grips.
  • New level home readers are being sent home now. The books should not be challenging and are used as reinforcement.


Numeracy:
  • Number patterns…counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s beginning at any number on the 200’s chart.
  • Revision of all areas covered this term 


Religion
  • What is the Greatest Commandment?
  • How do Jewish people live the covenant today? 


Homework:
  • Homework is due on Friday and can be accessed on the blog.


Computers:
  • How do we create a powerpoint?

Important dates:

  • 2G will be presenting assembly in  next week-week 9 (8th June) at 2.20pm

  • Parent teacher interviews will be conducted on Monday 13th June and Tuesday 14th June. I hope to meet with each of you to discuss your child's progress.

  • Revising analogue and digital time (o’clock and half past)

Week 6 – Hello! This week…

 Literacy:

  • This week our comprehension strategy is making connections. Children could practise this strategy at home after they have read their home readers!
  • This term we are learning about information reports.
  • We continue working hard on our handwriting and pencil grips.
  • Home readers are being sent home now. The books should not be challenging and are used as reinforcement.

Numeracy:

  • Number patterns…counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s beginning at any number on the 200’s chart.
  • Introducing halves and quarters
  • Revising analogue and digital time (o’clock and half past)

Religion

  • We celebrate ‘Wellness Week’ including St. Bernardine’s day on Wednesday.
  • What is a covenant? We continue looking at the story of Abraham and Sarah and explore how the greatest commandment is followed today.
     

Homework:

  • No homework this week!

Computers:

  • How do we create a powerpoint?

Request for “Parent Listeners”

  • Thank you to the ladies who have already volunteered. I am hoping to commence Active Listening next week. I will be contacting volunteers this week via email.
