Hello from 4Navy - Week 10

Literacy:
  • Our weekly comprehension strategy is 'Monitoring'- Information Texts

  • Children could practise this strategy at home while they are doing their nightly reading! 

  • They are working hard on their handwriting (entries and exits) and pencil grips. It is great to see their hard work paying off.

  • Please encourage your child to read aloud each night. Please help them to strengthen their comprehension of the text by asking them meaningful questions.

Numeracy:

  • Number patterns…counting forwards and backwards in 1's, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s up to 1000 (starting at any number) and 3's up to 30.

  • Odd and even numbers

  • Place value to the thousands and ten thousands

  • Addition of whole numbers

  • Fractions

  • Frequency Distribution Tables and Picture Graphs

  • Length

  • Time - am and pm

  • Addition of monetary values


Religion

  • Value of the week: Contemplation

  • Structure of the Bible

  • Easter Story 


Homework
  • No homework this week.

  • Children have edited their own Information Texts, peer edited and are now in the process of editing with the teacher. 

  • They are working hard on their handwriting (entries and exits) and pencil grips. It is great to see their hard work paying off.

  • Children are editing their own Information Texts using key points researched from a variety of informative texts. 

  • They are working hard on their handwriting (entries and exits) and pencil grips. It is great to see their hard work paying off.

  • Please encourage your child to read aloud each night. Please help them to strengthen their comprehension of the text by asking them meaningful questions.
