Hello from 2Green - Week 7

Literacy:
  • Our fortnightly comprehension strategies are 'Predicting' and 'Retell'. Children could practise this strategy at home while they are reading their home readers!
  • We continue working hard on our handwriting and pencil grips. It is great to see the student's hard work paying off.
  • We are in the process of rotating our Home Reader Boxes and as a result there may be a couple of nights that readers are not sent home.
  • Please encourage your children to read each night. Please help them to strengthen their comprehension of the text by asking them some of the questions in their reading folder.
  • Information reports - we continue planning and writing information reports.

Numeracy:
  • Number patterns…counting forwards and backwards in 1's, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s up to 1000 (starting at any number) 
  • Rainbow facts and doubles
  • Place value - ones, tens and hundreds
  • Time - o'clock and half past
  • Subtraction - understanding the relationship between addition and subtraction
  • Fractions - halves 1/2 and quarters 1/4
  • Division (equal groups / groups/ arrays)

Religion
  • Value of the week:   
  • Exploring God's relationship with the Jewish people through Old Testament Stories - 'Abraham and Sarah'
Homework:  
  • Homework is given out each Monday and is due back the following Monday. Please encourage your child to take pride in the presentation of their work.
Other messages: 

  • Please come and see me or email me if you have any questions throughout the year.
  • 2Green is on Morning Prayer this week.
  • Thank you for all of the boxes and rolls that students have brought in. We have received ample and do not require any more - thank you.
